Garage Door Color Trends 2021

Feb. 1, 2021

Every year, paint companies and color pros single out which colors will reflect the latest and greatest design trends as we head into the new year.

In 2020, we embraced the “stay at home” scene quite well, and while we didn’t even realize it, this mantra set the stage for how interior design trends would look in 2021. Every year, America’s favorite paint brands such as Pantone, Glidden, Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore release their picks for which colors they believe will align with the most recent and forthcoming interior design trends.

“The home is now the ultimate retreat from the world, and color is an easy and effective way to create a personal haven,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams.

There’s something to be said about a new, fresh paint color to bring a different vibe to your home. These carefully curated shades will have you wanting to host a remodeling fête and may even fill the void you’ve been longing for when enjoying a new home aesthetic.

Pantone’s “Ultimate Gray” and “Illuminating”

Pantone’s “Ultimate Gray” and “Illuminating” yellow are two self-sufficient colors that showcase that no matter how different you are, two are better than one. One is functional, while the other expresses hopefulness and cheer. Pantone sought to communicate a message of positivity supported by fortitude, and it’s hard not to feel that when you see these two picks side-by-side. (Plus, we may have a soft spot for these two colors because they closely resemble Wayne Dalton’s brand. Great picks, Pantone!)

Benjamin Moore’s “Aegean Teal”

Professionals at Benjamin Moore wanted this year’s color palette theme to encourage homeowners to celebrate the simple pleasures when you’re settling in your home. “Aegean Teal” was selected to represent natural harmony and promote reflection, balance and some much needed R & R throughout the home.

Sherwin Williams’ “Urban Bronze”

No matter if this color is used on the exterior or interior of your home, you’ll be sure to feel all of the warm and fuzzies. Inspired by tranquility and nature — “Urban Bronze” will help you “create the ultimate retreat for reflection and renewal, we're turning to a hue whose natural simplicity and nature-inspired energy cultivate a sense of calm from the ground up.”

Glidden’s “Aqua Fiesta”

For the first time ever, color industry authority Glidden decided to join the fun and selected its first-ever color they believe will make a splash in 2021. To make a show-stopping entrance into the ‘Color of the Year’ space, Glidden chose “Aqua Fiesta” to help procrastinating DIYers nail down the accent color they’ve been searching for. It’s fresh, lighthearted and will have everyone in your home in a cheery mood.
