Wayne Dalton Customer Service Manager Michelle Beckler discusses her career journey and advice for her peers
At Wayne Dalton, we’re proud to say that many of our valued employees have been with us for 10, 25 and even 40 years. Today, on International Women’s Day, a day for celebrating the achievements of women around the world, we’d like to recognize longtime Wayne Dalton team member Michelle Beckler!
In 1991, Michelle was coaching a Young Woman’s Softball league when a parent of one her players approached her and said they knew of a job at Wayne Dalton that she’d be great to take on. Now, after 28 years of dedication to our company, Michelle is a Customer Service Manager at the Wayne Dalton plant in Dalton, Ohio, where we manufacture our rolling steel doors.
Daily, Michelle and her trusted team of 11 customer service agents are tasked with answering a wide variety of questions from clients regarding their orders and the extensive line of commercial products that Wayne Dalton offers, like the recently launched Model 800 HC and 800C HC doors that have a cycle life that’s 25 times Wayne Dalton’s standard rolling service door and an accompanying three-year, 500,000 cycle warranty, to ensure the highest levels of satisfaction.
“In customer service, you never know what kind of day you will have until you get there. Normally, I began my day by putting out any fires, finding solutions to issues and working on fixes to ensure the same problems don’t happen again in the future,” said Michelle, with her trademark can-do spirit.
Because of the fast-paced environment that comes naturally with a job centered around problem solving and receiving calls and emails on a nearly non-stop basis, Michelle often reminds her team of her favorite mantra: take challenges on one thing at a time, and that every opportunity is a chance to learn.
“Every job I’ve ever had dealt with the public or tending to customers. Since starting here, I’ve had several different jobs and have worked my way up through the years. I love our customers, my team members and the many opportunities to advance,” added Michelle.
While Michelle has moved up the ladder from her own exemplary professional achievements, she is thankful to her husband for the support she receives at home that has helped to balance her career and family.
“My husband and I are a good team. We were married for 17 years before we had our son and have a good routine. With him, I know I have someone in my corner at all times, and his support has helped me go after my dreams,” Michelle said.
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our customers, Michelle. Wayne Dalton is honored to have you as a valuable, lasting part of our team, and we look forward to another 28 years!
