Homeowners Can Receive 2007 Tax Credit for Wayne-Dalton Insulated Garage Doors

MT. HOPE, OH (1/4/2008)

Wayne-Dalton reminds homeowners or building owners who purchased a Wayne-Dalton insulated garage door in 2007 that they may be eligible for a tax credit on their 2007 tax return.

In October 2005, the Energy Policy Act HR 6 was passed and signed into law. It entitled all eligible owners to tax credits for energy saving improvements. The maximum amount of  credit — for all improvements combined — is $500 during the two year period of the tax credit. This credit applies to improvements made from Jan. 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2007.

Subsequent conversations, led by the Door and Access Systems Manufacturers Association on behalf of the garage door industry, with the Office of Tax Policy via the Internal Revenue Service, resulted in garage doors being declared eligible as part of the Energy Policy Act.

Most Wayne-Dalton insulated garage doors qualify for the energy tax credit under section 25C of the International Energy Conservation Code.

To be eligible, homeowners must install an insulated garage door on an insulated garage that is part of their principal residence. The door must have a U-factor equal or less than 0.35 and there must be a means to control air filtration at the door perimeter.

Wayne-Dalton residential garage doors that qualify for the tax credit include Models 9800, 9700, 9600, 9400, 9100, 8500, 8300, and 8200.

The good news doesn't stop there, as the following commecial door models are also eligible, provided they are installed on a homeowner's residence as previously noted. These insulated doors include the Thermospan® 200, 200-20, 150, and 125; Thermomark® 5150, 5155, 5200, and 5255; Models 2411, 2415, 220, and 216; and Models C-2400, C-24, and C-20.
