Wayne-Dalton Launches New Fabric-Shield™ Storm PanelsMt. Hope, OH (September 15, 2003) Wayne-Dalton announces the introduction of a new product category to its offering - Fabric-Shield Storm Panels. These panels are designed to cover windows, doors, and other home openings and protect against the destructive forces of hurricanes. However, they are completely different from traditional steel and aluminum panels that are now in common use. Fabric-Shield Storm Panels are made of PVC coated fabric that is tested to block wind, rain, and storm-driven projectiles to meet stringent building code requirements. The fabric is a natural translucent white color enabling homeowners to have more light in the house during the day. This is very helpful if a storm has knocked out power, or for those homeowners who leave the panels up for an extended period of time. "We are pleased to introduce this innovative product," said Dave Osso, corporate marketing manager. "Unlike other steel and aluminum panels, the Fabric-Shield Storm Panels are lightweight and easy to handle. In fact, they are three to eight times lighter than most metal storm panels. Other advantages to homeowners are that the panels allow for compact storage because they can be rolled up, laid flat or hung up, and they do not have sharp edges that can cause injury." Fabric-Shield Storm Panels can be a good addition to a dealer's windload rated product offering since they are sold to homeowners in hurricane prone areas who also need garage doors and openers. No special tools are required for installation, as the panels simply attach to the structure with grommets. They are available in standard sizes to cover many masonry window openings and are also available in custom sizes. For now, the panels will be sold in Florida only, but more states are expected to be added once approvals are granted.
